DIRECTIONS:

GENERAL: For orientation purposes "Grand Army Plaza" is a well known local landmark. For best results on your trip, print out a map showing the route you

will be taking, and have it available.

TAXIS:  1. "Yellow" is the official NYC taxi. Get a receipt. They are metered. They can be hailed anywhere. They normally operate in Manhattan, and to and from

the airports, but can take you to our location in Brooklyn. Do not take any other type of taxi unless prearranged. If you are three or more, then definitely

take a taxi. If two, weigh the relative cost of a taxi.
                         2. "Car Service" (Private Taxi Service) is available in the 4 outer boroughs. They will go anywhere, but must be hired by telephone or email. Paid in cash or                              will take credit or debit cards by previous arrangement. They charge by distance; they are not metered. They cannot be hailed. Receipt usually not

given, but available if you ask. Offices are located in all boroughs. Our preferred car service is called "Legends" at (718) 788-1234.
         CAR:   (suggest use GPS)
                        1. From the South: NJ Turnpike to Holland Tunnel, cross lower Manhattan on Canal Street, directly onto the Manhattan Bridge to Brooklyn, directly

on to Flatbush Avenue to 7th Avenue. Turn right and immediately turn left on Park Place, going around an island and cross Flatbush Avenue on the

diagonal. Turn left immediately onto Carlton Avenue. Fourth house on the right. Red brick, with American flag in the door. Please note that what we

have here is a straight shot from the NJ side of the Holland Tunnel to our corner on Carlton Avenue and Flatbush Avenue. Just keep going straight.

                         Amazing coincidence in NYC!
                        2. From the North:- 95 from Boston to 678 crossing to Brooklyn on the Whitestone Bridge. Turn right on Grand Central Parkway and pass by the

La Guardia Airport. Just past the airport turn right on a hardly noticeable small exit, which, when I last checked, said "To Verrazano Bridge", on the

Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. En route, do NOT be fooled by exit at Williamsburg Bridge to Manhattan on the left. Stay to the right going straight                                           ahead. Get off at Tillary Street in descending right-hand 350 degree turn that passes under the expressway and comes out a block ahead at the

intersection of Flatbush Avenue. Follow to 7th Avenue, turn right, and then left around the island and cross Flatbush on the diagonal. Turn

immediately left on Carlton. Fourth house on the right.
                       3. From the West:- 80 to George Washington Bridge to the East River Drive to the Brooklyn Bridge to Flatbush Avenue (left turn off the bridge and go                                   down two blocks and turn right) Flatbush to Carlton Avenue.
SUBWAY: Buy a Metrocard. (Google "Metropolitan Transit Authority-MTA")
                       1. Grand Central Station (42-44th between Lexington and Park Ave)- Take the "4" or "5" red line going toward Brooklyn. These are express trains.

No. 6 is the local on this route (does not go to Brooklyn). Get off at NEVINS STREET in Brooklyn, and cross the platform and get on a "2" or "3". Get off

at "Grand  Army Plaza" station. Walk down Flatbush Avenue on the right side two blocks to Carlton Avenue, cross Park Place and continue down Carlton

to the 4th house on the right.
                       2. Pennsylvania Station (34th and 8th Avenue)- Take a "2" or "3" train toward Brooklyn. These are express trains. The "1" is the local and does not go to
Brooklyn. Get off at "Grand Army Plaza" station. Walk to 641 Carlton as above.
BUS:  (Port Authority- 42nd and 8th Avenue- take "A" or "C" train toward Brooklyn to "Chambers Street" station. Change to "2" or "3" and get off at "Grand                                   Army Plaza" station. Walk to 641 Carlton as above.
            AIRPLANE:
                      1. JOHN F KENNEDY, Queens
                          a. Yellow Taxi- Located at designated area. Print out a map of the route from the internet to show to driver so he will know that you know where

you are going and will not be driven by the "long" route, which is more expensive. Upon leaving the airport premises tell driver to take Exit 1B and get

on North Conduit road that will merge with Altlantic Avenue which will take you all the way to our neighborhood, turning left on Vanderbilt Avenue.

Go up 7 streets to Sterling Avenue and turn right. At the next corner, Flatbush Avenue, turn right and go one block to Carlton Avenue and turn right.

Fourth house on the right. $40-50 depending on traffic (metered) plus tip (10%).

                          b. Public Transportation (Bus, train, and subway).

                                   i. Catch the B15 bus to "New Lots" subway station. From there get on the "3" subway train and get off at "Gand Army Plaza" station. Walk

to 641 Carlton. For the young, hardy, impecunious, and adventurous. Some stair-walking. Definitely NOT the scenic route. Not recommended for

                                    single ladies. $7.50-$10.00.
ii. Airtrain to "Howard Beach" subway station. Take "A" train to "Franklin Avenue" station. Get shuttle "S" train to "Prospect Park" station. Take "B"

or "Q" train to "7th Avenue" station at Carlton Avenue and Park Place. Walk to 641 Carlton. $10.00. Some stair-walking, transfers, but safe

                                       enough.
iii. Airtrain to Jamaica Plains. Take regular train to Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn. Take "B" or "Q" subway to "7th Avenue" station.

                                      Walk to 641 Carlton.

                       2. LA GUARDIA, Queens

                          a. Yellow Taxi-  You will be taking the Brooklyn/Queens expressway getting off at Tillary Street. And joining Flatbush Avenue.
                       3. NEWARK, New Jersey

                          a. Yellow Taxi- Same route as by Car.

                          b. Public Transportation
There are bus and train options. Please ask at the airport. Once in Manhattan connect with the subway red line "2" or "3" trains to Brooklyn.

Like our lodging, our food is Manhattan quality at Brooklyn prices (lower). Restaurants are usually owned and staffed by former Manhattanites, who saw greener pastures across the river.
